Le Bar Horse Camp

LeBar Horse Camp is in the Olympic National Forest. Not too far out of Shelton on north highway 101. Get a taste of what Babe the Blue Ox wandered through before he met and joined up with Paul Bunyon the logger. The forest here is a mix of old and young. The trails are fairly wide and its good for beginners or advanced riders. The Skokomish River provides great areas of exploring and fishing opportunities. The eye candy is all around you as you ride the trails. You look up into a canopy of glorious old growth and you look over your shoulder to deer eating vine maple. This is a must see area that has much more potential for trails than has happened here. The campground is pleasant but there is NO WATER for you or your horse. You have to bring what you will use or take your buckets down to Brown Creek Campground where all the facilities are. There is one outhouse, picnic tables at most of the sites and highline poles. Most have cable strung between but some were broken. Its great lowland riding with a mountainous feel. A wonderful place to relax.
Special thanks to Jody Rodgers of the Oakland Bay Chapter BCHW for her counsel in this project.

This is a ‘culvert’ in the campground. Please don’t do what an other had done and toss your manure and hay into it.
